Romantic walk along the beach in Hawaii Photo uploaded by
TheHoneymoon.com lists Hawaii as one of its top romantic destinations for 2008. For all you love birds celebrating Valentine’s Day Hawaiian-style, we’ve put together a list of things to do on the island of Oahu this February 14.
For starters, there’s a Valentine’s Day Moonlight Cruise aboard the Navatek. The Pupu Menu includes bacon-wrapped scallions, shrimp kebobs, chocolate fondue, and more. Oahu Cityguide also lists 10 Romantic Restaurants for the big day.
Another option is the Hawaiian vow renewal ceremony being offered by the Outrigger Reef and Outrigger Waikiki. This ceremony is inspired by an ancient Hawaiian custom called Ho-ao Pa’a, which binds man and woman together in a lasting union. This event is free to guests staying at the two hotels, and sign-ups begin on January 14.
Wherever your travels take you this February, we hope your Valentine’s Day is filled with love and affection!

Honolulu City Lights
Photo uploaded by
Our friend Evelyn over at the blog posted a great entry about the once the trees are decked out in their best holiday attire.
The trees in Bishop Square are her favorite, adorned with green, red, and clear lights to perform lovely light shows. The pools of water surrounding the square gives the whole square an environment that greatly enhances the views of the lights.
So, during your visit to Honolulu this holiday season, be sure and enjoy a stroll through the downtown for a beautiful experience of light and reflection. You can also check out this to keep your holiday season busy!

Surfing at Sunset Beach
Photo uploaded by
In many parts of the country, winter means bundling up and playing in the snow. Not in Oahu. Surfers from all the over the world flock to Oahu’s North Shore for winter surfing. Here’s an overview of some of the North Shore’s most famous surfing spots:
is the birthplace of big wave surfing and the site of the Quicksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau Big Wave Memorial. The surf competition pays homage to legendary surfer Eddie Aikau and takes place only when the epic Waimea waves are at least 20 feet high.
is located off Ehukai Beach. The merciless waves of Pipeline break just 50 to 100 yards off the beach over a shallow reef making this one of the most dangerous surf spots in the world. To see the action during contests like the Rip Curl Pro Pipeline Masters, enter through Ehukai Beach Park.
sits on the northernmost surf spot on the North Shore. The long wave-breaks here are the setting for the O’Neill World Cup of Surfing, the second contest in the Vans Triple Crown of surfing. Winter brings big, adrenaline-pumping waves to Sunset Beach. These waves calm down in summer, making the beach ideal for snorkeling or relaxing on the soft, golden sands.
While on the North Shore, you might also check out Dole Plantation or Helemano Plantation.
